This is not the Turkey most agencies are selling. While everyone else quotes Istanbul and Cappadocia, the Rize region offers something a Gulf family actually travels for in summer: cool air, green mountains and running water, at the exact months when home is at its hottest.
Flight times are short, the culture needs no explaining to a Gulf traveller, and the region is still uncrowded enough to feel like a find rather than a queue.
